Knights Trunk or Treat
On October 28th, 2019, Council 9499 sponsored our annual Halloween Trunk or Treat for families in our Parish and the Community. This is the largest youth event held at our Parish each year with over 150 youth attending. Even though rotten weather threatened to spoil the festivities in 2019, it did not stop the large crowds from coming. In fact, this may have been the largest crowd yet. Three straight days of torrential rain moved the festivities into the parish center, but that only proved to be better for event logistics. This year gave us two large bounce house activities, one was a long obstacle course, and the other was a traditional bounce house, both of which proved to be crowd favorites. Carnival games and activities kept the kids entertained, and the “Tunnel of Terror” made its long awaited return. Being inside gave us easy access to the kitchen where we served hotdogs, burgers, chicken fingers, barbeque, side dishes and drinks.
Despite being moved inside, the weather couldn’t spoil good old-fashioned trunk or treating. Many attendees still decorated their “cars” (tables) and even the adults dressed up in costumes. The kids were able to fill their bags to the limit with candy, as usual. In addition to a successful turnout, the Knights enjoyed lots of help from several newly-made brothers, who manned the bounce houses and helped out in the kitchen. Lots of food was collected for our Thanksgiving and Christmas Holiday Outreach Programs, and a significant amount of money was raised to pay for the event and support the Holiday Outreach Programs. Fun was had by all!
